Last week I recieved a PM from SCAPIN. He asked be about the RS SID Fork,
I was working on the last couple of months.
I first wanted to send hem a PM back with my story about the tuning.
(Due to software issues I'am not able to update
my website)but I was
thinking that it would be much nicer to post it to the Monticone Forum!
Let's start with the beginning, the fork started his life as a SID Race Carbon from 2002.
Weighing in at 1299 grams at a steerertube length of 214mm.
The only thing I used from the original fork are the upperlegs, I sanded the carbon part.
I did that to get ridden of the fugly "Blackbox" logo.
After sanding I gave the upperlegs 2 layers of clearcoat for the protection.
The internals were sent to Michael Metje, to give them the full treathment. ;-)
The original internals are used to create a new 2 into 1 oil/air damper.
For the lowerlegs I used the newer version, because they would look nicer
on my Extralite bike.
The disc-tabes were shaved of, and I have had them painted black.
And now the most important part, the WEIGHT:
Upperlegs 483,1 gram
Lowerlegs (incl. Enduro seals etc.) 406,4 gram
Internals 80,6 gram
Hardware 32,4 gram
Lube & air 3,2 gram
Total
1005,7 gram
If you want more information, you can always contact me.
Regards,
Nick
