Campagnolo introduces its second electronic group Athena EPS, just nine months after the presentation of the Record and Super Record EPS.
Carbon fiber parts have been replaced by other in aluminum alloy with the intention to make this electronic group cheaper and in reach of a greater number of cyclists.
Functionality is the same, meaning you can shift one or more (or all) gears with a single button depression by merely
holding the shifter longer. It keeps the “Ride Back Home” crash protection, letting you put it in a reasonable gear
manually should you wreck and the system becomes disabled.
The front derailleur uses a special alloy of aluminum instead of carbon fiber. It has the same function as "self-trim" to
keep the cage aligned in the optimal position in relation to the gear in use.
Ergonomics on the shift levers are the same of Record and Super Record EPS groups which means that the shape and angle of the button are slightly different than the mechanical units.
We will use the same battery as the DTI for higher groups.
Weights, prices and availability are not yet available, we will update about them soon as possible.
