Generally in the period of the world cup finals the top riders of the official teams are riding the innovations that will be presented for the following year.

Actually this year we did not expect to find many new features this year World Cup finals in Val d'Isere and unfortunately our predictions were confirmed.
The 29-inch mountain bikes this season are become the majority, almost all of the top elite man are riding on them, although there are exceptions like the Scott Swisspower Team that rides on the unpublished Scale 27.5" (that will be

presented soon for the 2013 season) and Julien Absalon faithful to his 26 inches Orbea Alma.

It is curious, however, the return to the victory in the U23 category of Gherard Kershbaumer riding back to the Bianchi Methanol SL2 after a season actually less triumphant than the previous one in which he ran with the Methanol 29er. 26 inches also for the two talented Braidot brothers that come paired together third and fourth to the finish of the Under 23 race.

Obviously not all riders adapt to the big wheels, even if not a few are attracted from the undeniable advantages of 29er bikes in several situations.

The first groups SRAM XX1 begin to appear on bikes, we have discovered in race on Nino Schurter's and Florian Vogel's Scott Scale 650b.

At the finish appeared the Scott 650b that Nino will use in London next week, in all-black color with the Swiss flag.

XX1 also for the beautiful Emily Batty riding his brand new Trek Superfly SL Pro with the new 2013 iperlight frame of 896 grams (claimed), easily recognizable from the previous model for the smaller size of the tubes and for position of the rear caliper.

We have found in the Cannondale stand Fontana's and Fumic's Flash 29er with custom color of their national team ready for the Olympics. Single-chainring for both, but this time with SRAM X.0 group (trigger) 1x10, conventional (FSA) chainring and MRP chain-guide. Brand-new even the carbon bumper Leonardi for Lefty.

Burry Stander and Christoph Sauser ride with single-chairings since more than a couple of seasons. Both mount Rotor oval chainrings, chain-guides cSixx, SRAM X.0 derailleurs and SRAM XX trigger shifters.

Sauser, well-known pioneer of lightweight parts, mounts as always on his Specialized S-Works Strumpjumper HT custom Carbon-Ti components (X-Lock Special skewers, X-Clamp 3 32.6 clamp, X-Cap Carbon steering cap).

The Swiss legend, that we are fortunate to be friends, explained us that with this stage closes its long series of World Cup races (he will do his last XC race in the XC World Campionships at Saalfelden) to concentrate himself full time to the marathons where he is currently the reigning world champion.

In the Specialized stand at last we find the Specialized bikes in color named "neon red" (a gaudy orange) that will mark all official Specy in race at the Olympics in London.
