Here is the first look at Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset, brand new for 2014 and available very soon!

Much loved by riders looking for some of the performance benefits of the company‚ the high-end Dura-Ace groupset, but at the half of the price, Ultegra 6800 features a new 11-speed rider tuned drivetrain, improved shifting performance and increased braking power. Everything in the new group has been designed to make shifting and braking as easy as possible so you can concentrate on the ride.

Shimano Ultegra 6800 drivetrain benefitting from Dura Ace trickle-down technology, the biggest news for Ultegra 6800 is that it is now 11-speed and features what Shimano calls a ‚"rider tuned drivetrain". Rider tuned is essentially the ability to choose from a wide range of gearing options to suit your riding, whether that be for a sportive, cyclo-cross race or your local time-trial, for example.

The Ultegra 6800 cassette goes from 11-23T all the way to 11-32T and the crank shares the same four arm design as its pro-focussed Dura-Ace bigger brother, providing a better power transfer compared to a five arm design, and reducing overall weight. The crank is available in 53x39T, 52x36T, 50x34T and 46x36T.

There is a new chain too which uses Shimano is Sil-tec surface plating technology, a low friction treatment which increases performance.

Shimano Ultegra 6800 derailleurs Ultegra 6800 front and rear derailleurs have been overhauled and are now more compact, lighter, and feature a shorter stroke at the lever and deliver more even shifting effort throughout the full range of the cassette.

As well as the dual control levers providing maximum gear shift feedback, they also have a shorter lever stroke and a defined click engagement when the shift is completed. The hoods are more compact, and the carbon lever has been redesigned to improve ergonomics and control.

Shimano Ultegra 6800 brakes 10% more braking power and enhanced control are the headlines for the new Ultegra brakes, mainly down to a new symmetrical dual pivot design and the new brake shoe compound. Modulation is also improved through the use of new polymer-coated BC-R680 cables.

A new 11-speed wheel has been developed for the new group, which has a wide flange hub and an offset rim for high rigidity and power transmission.

We'll keep you updated as to when the new Shimano Ultegra 6800 is in stock.
